THE SOCIETY’S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 25TH SEPTEMBER 2004 The Crown Plaza Hotel, Buckingham Gate, London SW1E

The Annual Dinner

2004

Hisham Kaddour,Ahmed Mustafa,The Ambassador of Egypt Mr Gehad Madi,Amir Azmi,Prof.Hossam BAdrawy,The Egyptian Consul General Mr Mahmoud Abou Donia, aguih Gurguis,Mahmoud Salam,Mohammed Latif,Wafik Morcus and Atef Ibrahim.

VENUE: This year the AGM fulfilled all our expectations of a meeting dominated by a spirit of real fellowship and camaraderie. The turn up was reasonable, but could certainly have been better.

The meeting: Chaired by Amir Azmy, and with all the members of the Executive Committee present, the achievements of the past year, and the events that took place were summarized by the secretary Atef Ibrahim.

The treasurer Laila AbouZekri Presented her report and announced that the balance was £365 in credit on 1/9/2004.

Decisions: All the executive committee was re-elected for another year, and the officers were unchanged.

A decision was taken after extensive discussions that: “Any Ex-President has the right to nominate himself for another tour of presidency, but not before at least 4 years from leaving office.

It was also agreed that: “honorary members have the right to vote and be nominated for offices, provided they pay the annual subscription” (amendment of article 5.2.3.of the Constitution).

The Annual Dinner and Dance: The black tie dinner was well attended, and the menu offered was of the expected standard for the event.

Amir called upon all past presidents available to come up and the group was photographed with our new Ambassador H.E Gehad Refaat Madi. Tribute was made in honour of our dear and sadly departed Dr Sayyed Saada, and that honour was given to his dear wife Dr Mohga Saada who was present.

A highlight of the dinner event was a speech given by H.E the Ambassador, whose superb mastery of English and his tribute to our Society, and his declared wish to be closely associated with us, filled us all with a glad feeling of belonging to our root home country.

It was also so significance and gratifying that our honourable Consul General for Egypt, Ambassador Mahmoud Abu Donia and his wife were also present.

Any description of the music, songs, and dancing that followed will not give justice to the superb happy occasion we all experienced.

The best tribute to the event is to say that I could not identify a single person who did not go to the dance floor.
